Lynnette Bonner, formerly of Pierce, has published her first book, Rocky Mountain Oasis, in what will be a series called the Shepherd’s Heart – a group of stories set in 1880’s gold days of Idaho. Lynnette got her idea for the book while living in Pierce and researching the town’s interesting mining history.

Brooke Marie Baker is a young woman who has suffered at the hand’s of her uncle and is sold out west as a Mail Order Bride. She mistrusts all men, but can’t believe getting away from her uncle could be anything but an improvement.

Rancher, Sky Jordan, steps in to keep her from marrying his surly cousin Jason. Through this uncertain relationship Brooke finds a godly man who is trustworthy. She not only learns trust and love of the human variety but a greater “True love and a faith in God.”

“He makes me to lie down in green pastures,” (Psalms 23:1-2) is the theme of this book. The definition most people might think of when referring to an “oasis” is usually one of a fertile or green area in an arid region. But to Lynnette’s heroine, Brooke, learning the true meaning of love and trust is her oasis in what has been a world of emotional pain.

Lynnette Bonner has no less interesting story of her own. She was born in Malawi, Africa to missionary parents and graduated from a Christian boarding school in Kenya. She speaks the language of the Malawi’s (Chichewa) and understands Swahili, the language of Kenya.

Lynnette met and married a young pastor, Marty Bonner whom she met at Northwest University. The Bonners have four children and reside in Everett, WA. Lynnette began her book in 1999 and completed it in 2000. She enjoys writing, and her mother told her as a child that she had the “imagination of a writer.”

Utilizing modern technology, “I’m on the internet a lot,” Lynnette queried publishers to find one interested in this genre. She created a trailer, which is on her website: (www.lynnettebonner.com), and on Youtube.com. Her book was released approximately Aug. 5, and is available through Barnesandnoble.com, Christianbook.com, and amazon.com.
